4/10/2026: Fraser River

Current Conditions:

Flows remain unknown on the Fraser as the gauge is still offline, but the river is fishing well and conditions are continuing to improve as we move further into spring.

We got on the water around 10:15 and found immediate action in the tree stump stretch, with fish actively feeding right out of the gate. Around 10:30, bugs started coming off steadily, beginning with a midge hatch, followed shortly after by BWOs. Interestingly, we also saw a handful of caddis flying around, which added to the mix of surface activity.

While the deeper holes in the lower part of that stretch produced consistently, it’s worth paying close attention to the shallow water closer to the shoreline along the beach. Fish were visibly rising in these areas and were responding well to dries, particularly parachute Adams and the mole fly.

The riffles were equally productive and offered good opportunities both nymphing and fishing dries. Fish were holding in a variety of water types, so covering water and working upstream into riffled sections proved to be a solid approach throughout the day.

Water clarity remains good, and as always, clean drifts and attention to detail are key to success in this system.
